Domicile, the commercial division of Maison Real Estate, specializes in transactions of commercial properties within the downtown historic district on the Charleston peninsula. Domicile was founded by Jennifer Davis in 2007. Since that time, Jennifer has used her analytical skills and depth-of-local market knowledge to counsel clients who are in search of opportune retail and hospitality properties to acquire or lease. King Street and the central business district of Charleston have staged a dramatic resurgence during this period. Domicile has represented clients in commercial transactions on nearly every block of Charleston’s premier shopping corridor.
Prior to founding Domicile, Jennifer was the co-founder of Ibis, Inc., an historic real estate development partnership focused on adaptive re-use of historic properties. Under Jennifer's leadership, Ibis purchased, restored and sold more 14 properties. This is where she gained knowledge about the best practices of commercial and residential restoration and preservation including negotiating terms, using conservation easements, navigating zoning and architectural review boards.
During Jennifer’s stewardship of Ibis, Ibis won the prestigious South Carolina Governor’s Honor Award for Historic Preservation and her projects have been the recipients of both the federal and state historic rehabilitation tax credits. She has served on the Coastal Conservation League Board, the Palmetto Conservation Foundation, and the Beaufort Historic Foundation.
Frequently, Jennifer has been an equity partner in strategic real estate acquisitions with key investors who have similarly aligned long and short term goals. Her ability and willingness to invest alongside partners has repeatedly reinforced the sentiment that she believes in the properties she recommends. As Jennifer has been known to say, “In order to understand the constant balance of risk and reward for each real estate investor, you have to have had your own equity and time investment on the line.”
